Short version: it is a word game, it is free, play it and have fun, do not attack it.
Using Vowl
Vowl is provided free of charge for personal use. You do not need an account and you are not buying anything, so there is nothing here about subscriptions or refunds.
Please do not do the obvious bad things: automate play to spoil other people's games, try to extract the answer from the server before a round ends, hammer the service to knock it over, or use a display name that is abusive or impersonates someone. Any of those and the room or connection gets cut.
No guarantees
Vowl runs on a home machine behind a tunnel. It goes down sometimes, it may be unavailable without warning, and games in progress can be lost when it does. It is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Do not build anything you care about on top of it.
Rooms and their scoreboards are not permanent storage. Empty rooms are deleted after thirty minutes and nothing here is backed up.
Content
The word lists come from ENABLE, which is public domain. The written pages in the strategy and about sections, the code, and the design are ours. You are welcome to quote a paragraph with a link back. Republishing whole pages is not fine.
Display names are typed by players and are not reviewed before they appear. If you run into one that should not be there, mail us.
Advertising
Written pages and the post round recap carry ads served by Google. Google's use of data is covered on the privacy page. We do not control which specific ads appear and do not endorse them.
Changes
If these terms change the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to play after that means you are fine with the new version.
